key clients overview
varley
Varley was founded in 2015 by couple Lara and Ben Mead, with the former the brand’s Chief Creative Officer. The brand we know today began as a merging of their passions and affinity for the aesthetic, wardrobes and lifestyle of London and Los Angeles, between which they split their time. They created Varley to celebrate all modern women, providing her with a wardrobe of timeless contemporary pieces, designed for how she moves and lives.
Ecrubox partnered with Varley in 2019 on a mission to drive its ecommerce strategy and deliver digital growth to increase revenue and brand awareness. Our initial services proved to deliver strong results and were the foundation of a long-lasting relationship with the Varley team and their marketing department.
Ecrubox works in ways other agencies can’t replicate. To achieve success with Varley we became a part of their day-to-day world – integrating with their team, their culture, and their wider agency mix. It’s as if we’re on the payroll, not just a retainer.

Quick case study
Curlsmith
Founded in 2017, Curlsmith create products for curly hair. The Ecrubox team were brought in to drive an increase in online sales by working closely with its founders and internal marketing team from March 2021 to April 2022 on a digital growth strategy.
Ecrubox designed and built a new website to optimise the site’s conversation rate alongside a user experience programme and integrated performance marketing support to target its core target market. The team created Curlsmith’s first TikTok ads, plus a Facebook and Instagram advertising strategy. This helped to turbo charged Curlsmith’s launch in Germany. The result? Exponential growth. Ecrubox recently celebrated with the client when Curlsmith was bought for $150million.
Heather Horton, CEO of Ecrubox says; “We’re known for breaking the rule book to help support company growth for our clients, but this project was off-the-scale. We are thrilled Curlsmith has become part of Helen of Troy’s portfolio. It’s an exciting time for the company as we know even more people will fall in love with it.”
This tightly integrated approach paid off and in just one-year Curlsmith’s D2C ecommerce revenue doubled from $5million to over $10million. This stellar growth caught the eye of beauty product investors Helen of Troy who welcomed the haircare brand to its extensive portfolio.
Recent deployments
reluxe
Reluxe launched in January 2022 and is fast becoming the go-to resale platform for women looking for a luxurious clothing experience, but with a conscious mind. The brand continues to work with Ecrubox on their ecommerce platforms.
The platform helps women to clear out their wardrobes and sell their designer labels on, each item is carefully crafted and picked by the team of stylists at Reluxe, styled, photographed, sold, and then sent onto its new owners in beautiful compostable packaging, and can even be delivered by electric bike.
With the growth after launch it soon became apparent that the manual processes for the team at Reluxe were too time consuming. So Ecrubox set about streamlining its processes. First off by developing several slack bots to be automated, which they weren’t before, as well as creating a full new seller process. The agency immediately saved the fashion retailer several hours per day, by automating every seller communication, uploading products to the website and the creation of barcode labels.
The digital agency has also launched a PPC campaign in the UK, which is proving very successful and is guiding further website development. The Ecrubox team, known for guiding their clients on business strategies to drive extreme growth, has also spotted new countries the Reluxe team could launch in very soon.
“In just two months Ecrubox has been a driving force in developing our systems and processes along with helping us to reach new audiences with our offering. The platform has really taken off and we’re ready to explore new opportunities.”
Anna Mosek, Head of Ecommerce, Reluxe
Heather Horton, CEO of Ecrubox says: “We’re so excited to be working with Reluxe – now women can look good while doing good. It’s an amazing concept, for high fashion investment pieces that have been pre-loved and we’re aiming to give quality online experiences to its customers. We’ve got exciting ideas to help Reluxe grow even more, after what has been a huge six months for them, and we can’t wait to see what the future brings for the team.”
