we do not thrive when we coast.
Ambition is at the heart of our leadership community and demonstrated continually through hands-on engagement.
we speak clearly and with an opinion.
Our voice and culture are confident and generous. Respecting every personality type, we form a strong stance.
We create, we don't regurgitate.
Investing heavily in innovation, analytics and creativity, our production team are ateliers in a world full of copycats.
At Ecrubox, we have a strapline "only the extraordinary will thrive". That might sound daunting but it's fair and true. Everyone at Ecrubox is extraordinary by design and the skillsets we recruit are coupled with a warm, approachable, open personality type that will always thrive here. If you're part of the team, we will support you in every way possible. Be it your desire for a hybrid work-solution or accommodation for special needs, neurodiversity or an unusual level of additional training. We've got you.
We're a true equal opportunities recruiter and we've received several accolades for our culture and teamwork. Unlike many agencies we have a surprisingly flat working hierarchy with everyone given ample time to gain feedback and share ideas with both the founder and their line managers. We conduct 1:1 reviews on a schedule and host our own "lounge sessions" where you're free to request anything you'd like to make your days easier whilst producing the exemplary output we're used to.
We treat newbies with kindness and will always provide onboarding not just in terms of our technology and processes but through introductions to every member of staff and invitations to our collaborative sessions and health support programme. We're keen users of the YuLife app which gives you access to our generous rewards programme for completing simple wellbeing tasks. Lunch breaks are mandatory and that includes our remote or semi-remote workers. There are very few occasions where we will ask you to work out of hours or keep your mobile phone available if you have confirmed a holiday / personal time. When it comes to busy periods, everyone pitches in and our cross-training enables us not only to widen our skillset but to also have a valued opinion on multiple aspects of the work we produce.
One example of our commitment to a fair life-work balance is the Ecrubox Carpe Diem Day. This is a day-long, total break from all responsibility for the whole team. Several of them are announced each year, sometimes when you least expect it. The directive is "Do not log in tomorrow, do something better, whatever you want" and we mean it. For some this means just a duvet-day but for others it's a chance to take up that hobby you've been missing out on or reconnect with friends outside of work, on a day you'd usually be at your desk. Several of us have unusual home projects such as publishing, playing in bands, customising vehicles and far-away-travel obsessions. We try to accommodate it all and as you progress to senior level, we can also adjust your working days entirely to fit in more time for "your stuff" whilst still being paid. We don't encourage working whilst on holiday, instead insisting that our team take the full break when they journey afar. It's a great big world out there and the energy and inspiration you bring back is worth much more to us than "being on call".
It doesn't matter if you're joining the development, marketing or management team, you'll meet all of us in a typical working week. We have a communal Slack and frequent social events (all of which have an "introvert option" for those who don't buy into the whole "work hard play hard" mentality. You be you, we already knew we loved you the moment we interviewed. We don't want to 'change' people at Ecrubox but we do work very hard indeed to unlock their brilliance. Be it through 1:1 training, mentoring or access to events and conferences, we want you to challenge your colleagues as well as our clients. It's what makes you extraordinary. You will thrive.
Ever received a notification at the end of a working day that tomorrow is totally cancelled? Here that's an awesome thing. Ecrubox Carpe Diem Days are announced by our founder from time to time for the whole company. On receipt of the message, you are being given the total freedom to log-out, close Slack and simply do whatever you want for the next 24 'working' hours.
Many agencies have tried and failed to introduce "fun and games" into the working quarter but at Ecrubox we know that you have your own vision of a great time. For some that means staying in bed with Netflix on. For others it's joining your colleagues for a mountain climb challenge. No judgement here, just do whatever you want, take the day off and don't log in. That's all we require of you on a Carpe Diem Day.
Of course we offer the 'socials' too. A full Marketing Team Day and Development Team Day where interactive workshops are coupled with dinner on us are something we look forward to. If you're far away, we'll also put you up for the night if you can attend. Beyond the workshop programme, we also offer regular trips to nearby attractions where the focus is entirely on chilling and escaping this crazy digital world. We know that's not everyone's cup of tea so Carpe Diem Days are there for you to simply tune out and leave work behind. Whilst still getting paid.
When it comes to enjoying our working week, we're super realistic. You'll find caring line managers, diverse teammates and plenty of quirky personalities when you need a buddy to talk to. Our office manager, Charlotte hosts weekly gatherings online where the boss stays away and you can always speak your mind. If you're not comfortable talking, we have anonymous feedback loops and plenty of comment opportunities the digital way.
The small team who manage and steer Ecrubox have decades of experience of working both in-house and at other agencies. We've designed Ecrubox to be the best of that combination without too much fuss. If you're good at what you do and have the ambition we value, you'll find a superb work home at Ecrubox. And plenty of inspiration. Oh and of course we pay generously and always on time.
Not everyone knows this but we have a rather special satellite office. Since joining Ecrubox in 2020, Alex Sass, our "Head of Magic" has kept his lab in the Canary Islands. Choosing to work as "off grid" as possible, he commutes with us only digitally, inviting some of his colleagues to join him on the island from time to time.
Ecrubox founders meet on the volcanoes of Lanzarote every quarter for a "strategy workshop" with Alex who helps steer our agency in every way. This three day session is sometimes accompanied by guests from all departments of the team as prizes/rewards. It's a chance to be somewhere far away from the norm and to experience a truly world-class business strategy session.
We're a strong believer in neurodiverse talent and as such we welcome applications from anyone whose skills will shine even brighter given the right accommodation. Internal training on diversity support is a key pillar at our agency, for those in the office and remote (even if that means VERY remote).
"How would you describe the overall work environment at our company?"
Inclusive. Warm. Energetic. We're a team who are full of respect, kindness and heart. Everyone is very energetic in the team, and super inclusive to new starters, different personalities and approaches. We push to get as much work done as possible to the highest of standards, but leadership make it clear that things can wait (if not a fire) and that mistakes happen and that is ok. It's an understanding workplace, which is nice! | Sophie, Marketing Team"Which client project do you most enjoy working on and why?"
Co-op Hols. I can get stuck right in! Working on their organic social and paid social means I can massively help align their messaging and structure. Their organic social (with the branches) is a great training piece which includes all branches, so it's great to be able to spread my knowledge to so many. I love creating organic social strategies and seeing the difference it can make across their company, as organic social can be underestimated within digital marketing. They're also undergoing growth with bookable being launched, so it is exciting to be a part of this element at the beginning of their journey. | Sophie, Marketing Team
"What would you say to someone considering working with us?"
Happiness and wellbeing is such an important part of any job and I truly believe Ecrubox takes this seriously when it comes to their team. We have a team that fully supports everyone and is not afraid to ask when they need help. We work hard together but also have fun whilst doing it! | Charlotte, Executive Assistant
"Which of our company values resonates most with you and why?"
Ambitious, assertive, authentic - specifically authentic. Ecrubox allows you to be your most authentic self and supports you both personally and professionally. | Charlotte, Executive Assistant
"What would you say to potential clients considering our services?"
"I think I would highlight that we don't pick up dev tickets that go through account managers then PM's where things get lost in translation, we (developers) have meetings directly with clients so we know who we're doing the work for and we can get all the information we need face to face." | Siobhan, Development
If you're looking for a company where you feel valued and appreciated for your work, as well as having the lots of opportunities to learn and develop new skills then Ecrubox would be a great fit. | Siobhan, Development
"How has your experience here differed from previous workplaces?"
My experience at Ecrubox is that it's very collaborative and your voice and opinions are heard are actually taken on board. The company seems to actually value it's employees and makes an active effort to bring everyone together with ecruacadamy and team days which I think is really nice. | Siobhan, Development
